Osun Lawmaker Attributes Political Mayhem To Wrong Interpretation Of Court Judgement

Hon. Abiola Ibrahim Inaolaji, the lawmaker representing Irewole/Isokan at the Osun State House of Assembly has attributed the recent political mayhem in Osun to the wrong interpretation of Appeal Court judgement sitting in Akure.

Inaolaji, who said that there was no any judgment duly authorises the forceful invasion of the Local Government areas described the crisis as a coordinated attack which eventually led to loss of lives and properties.
He accused the leading opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state for orchestrating the crisis under the guise of implementing a court judgement.
“Without mincing words, I was left bewildered by the recent political crisis that erupted in Ikire, Apomu and Ikoyi communities, likewise other areas across Osun State.
“In a bid to take over the Local Government Councils, by the opposition members of the All Progressives Congress ( APC), Osun State extreme violence was used.
“Let me reiterate that no judgment duly authorises the forceful invasion of the Local Government areas. This was a coordinated attack which eventually led to loss of lives and properties. In my opinion, I believe this incident could have been prevented by allowing the rule of law to take its full course. This would have ensured that democratic values would have been respected and protected.
“Democracy is a system for the people to decide who they want elected. It should be a process of integrity and due process. It warrants no blood shed or violence.
“The bloodshed and violence in Irewole and Isokan Constituency is a heartbreaking occurrence. I pay my sincere condolences to the family of souls departed, I pray Allah grants them “Jannatul Firdaus. I also wish all those injured a quick recovery. I implore my constituents to please let peace prevail. We are first brothers and sisters before political affiliations.
“We should look beyond this present moment to draw more positive and profound view where we all can meet, thrive and live together productively and harmoniously. Let us be law abiding citizens and ensure that we give utmost respect to the law and the constituted authorities.
The lawmaker also commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for being law abiding and peace loving citizen.
He said: “I equally express my deepest gratitude to the Executive Governor of Osun State who doubles as the Chief Security Officer of the State, His Excellency, Sen. Ademola Adeleke for being a law abiding and peace loving citizen.
“I admire his commitment to ensure that utmost respect for the rule of law is maintained during this challenging period. This was visibly seen during the press conference alerting the whole world and drawing attention of the public to the intended plan to cause mayhem. This swift act of service was in a bid to ensure that there is peace and that the people of Osun state are protected.
Describing Osun State as a peaceful state among the comity of states, Inaolaji urged
urged residents of Osun to remain resolute and ensure that the peaceful atmosphere is maintained.
“It is undoubtedly certain that Osun is renowned for her peaceful nature and as such, we must all remain resolute and ensure that the peaceful atmosphere is maintained. It is on this note that I urge everyone to remain calm, alert and vigilant while maintaining peace and orderliness and uphold the principles of Omoluabi”
He, therefore called on the Inspector General of Police, the Commissioner of Police ( Osun command), DSS, Nigerian Civil Defence Corps and other security agencies to help restore peace, stability and normalcy to Osun communities.
“As a member of the 8th Assembly, I will ensure to continue to protect and defend our rights and interests as at when due. Please let us shun violence and embrace peace and unity”, he concluded in a statement signed and made available to journalists.
