No Vacancy In Aso Rock In 2027, Says APC Chieftain

Netizens have trooped to the social media page of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretary, who urged President Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in Osun over the local government crisis.

Recall that, on Tuesday, President Tinubu declared a State of Emergency in Rivers State for an initial period of six months.

Tinubu said: “In the circumstance, having soberly reflected on and evaluated the political situation in Rivers State and the Governor and Deputy Governor of Rivers State having failed to make a request to me as President to issue this proclamation as required by section 305(5) of the 1999 Constitution as amended, it has become inevitably compelling for me to invoke the provision of section 305 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended, to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State with effect from today, 18th March, 2025 and I so do.

“By this declaration, the Governor of Rivers State, Mr Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, Mrs Ngozi Odu and all elected members of the House of Assembly of Rivers State are hereby suspended for an initial period of six months.

Reacting to the President’s decision through the Sun Newspaper, Senator Ajibola Basiru urged President Tinubu to extend the decision to Osun, where the state government has grounded local government administration.

Ajibola noted that the President’s decision in Rivers has shown that he is not only a statesman but also very neutral in the crisis rocking the state.

In his appeals to President Tinubu to replicate the same decision in Osun, senator Basiru said: “We also want to use this opportunity to call on the Federal Government to also declare the same State of Emergency in Osun State.

“The government has grounded local government administration despite the Court of Appeal decision and the advice by the Attorney General,” he appealed

However, netizens have stormed the comments section of the APC scribe to express their views concerning the remarks.

We should understand that the only way to prevent anarchy from escalation or to restore law and order and protect national assets is for the Commander in chief of The armed forces to apply relevant sections of the Constitution from time to time as the need arises. No alternatives!”
