Rivers Govt. Reacts To ‘State Of Emergency’ Declaration By President Tinubu
The Rivers State Government has opted to remain silent, for now, regarding President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in the state.
This announcement, made during a nationwide broadcast on Tuesday, resulted in the suspension of Governor Siminialayi Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Nma Odu, and members of the State House of Assembly.
When queried about the declaration, Commissioner of Information and Communications Joseph Johnson expressed that it was premature for the government to take a stance.
“The president has made a declaration… I think it’s too hasty to make any comment about it,” Johnson stated.
In conjunction with the state of emergency declaration, President Tinubu has nominated Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd) as the Administrator to oversee the state’s affairs during this period.
