Prince Tunde Ponle’s Death: Senator Omisore Mourns A Renowned Compatriot

I received with profound shock the news of the passing of a frontline Nigerian, a renowned industrialist, recreation-centre magnate, golf enthusiast, educationist, accomplished engineer, and foremost entrepreneur who made unprecedented strides in Nigeria’s manufacturing sector, Late Prince Michael Ayantunde Ponle, OFR.

Late Prince Ponle struck me as a true behemoth of our time. I was deeply fascinated by the indelible footprints he left across every sector he bestrode, towering like the colossus he truly was. The MiCcom Group of Companies, which he founded, gave birth to Nigeria’s pioneer indigenous cable manufacturing company, MiCcom Cables and Wires Limited, among several other industrial ventures that significantly impacted our national economy.

His passion for education and philanthropy was monumental. Personally, I drew immense inspiration from his unwavering commitment to social upliftment and his consistent investment in the development and empowerment of young minds through education.

With his passing, Ada Town, Osun State, and indeed Nigeria, have lost an invaluable treasure—a man who lived his entire life in service to humanity. Prince Tunde Ponle may have departed this world, but he lives forever through the enduring legacy of his remarkable contributions across all spheres of life he touched.

While we will deeply miss his physical presence, we are comforted by the lasting and imperishable institutions of philanthropy, industry, and human development he left behind.

I sincerely commiserate with his beloved wife, Her Excellency, Titi Laoye-Ponle, his children, the entire Ponle family, the good people of Ada Town, his friends, associates, and all who were privileged to share in his life.

Adieu, Late Prince Tunde Ponle.
