Osun 2026: Consider Ifeland, Omoworare As Gov’ship Candidate-Ifeland Youths Appeal To APC

A group of All Progressives Congress youth from Ifeland at a meeting has called on the Osun All Progressives Congress to pick its gubernatorial candidate for the 2026 election from Ife.

The group alluded to the volume of Ife votes, unidirectional voting pattern and it’s importance in all previous and future Osun State governorship elections.

The group led by two former Councillors, Hon. Sanmi Akinyemi from Ife East Local Government and Hon. Tosin Akanbi from Ife North Local Government as coordinator and secretary respectively said the choice of APC candidate from Ifeland will brighten the chances of the party to dislodge the PDP from the Oke-Fia government house in 2026.

According to a communique issued at the end of their meeting, the group said it has observed the political situation in Osun State, the APC as a party and the chances of returning to government in 2026 and are seriously determined to rally other sections of the state to give Ife a chance to produce the next governor on the platform of the APC.

The group called on the party leadership and members to consider Senator Babajide Omoworare, a two term Senator of Osun East and former Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria as highly experienced and capable.

They described Omoworare as a politician of note whose capacity, competence and character is highly rated across the state and beyond.

According to the communique made available to the press, Senator Babajide Omoworare was said to have never been defeated in any election before and given his enviable track record of service and political acceptance he stands a better chance to lead the party to victory in 2026 with support of other sections of the state and the electorates.

We are calling on the All Progressives Congress to beam it’s searchlight on Ifeland and consider Babajide Omoworare a politician with noble pedigree, character and competence as the governorship candidate to boost the chances of the party’s return to government in 2026.

We will mobilise other sections of the state and structures to project Omoworare candidature. We are open to work with like minds and other victory conscious members of the party and general public on this journey to 2026 with Babajide Omoworare as our candidate.
