NDLEA Nabs 52-year Old Mum, Son With 298 Blocks Of Cannabis
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 52-year-old woman, Muyibat Mumuni, and her son, Faruk, 25, in Mushin, Lagos, for allegedly storing and distributing 298 blocks of cannabis weighing 149kg.
A statement by the NDLEA Spokesperson Femi Babafemi, on Sunday said the duo were arrested on Wednesday, August 13, at Ladega Street following a raid on their hideout.
According to the Agency, In a separate operation in Ajah, Lagos, another suspect, Emmanuel Samuel, was caught with 8.5kg of Canadian Loud cannabis on Friday, August 15.
In Gombe, operatives intercepted Sani Mohammed, 32, with 128,000 capsules of tramadol, while along the Okene-Lokoja highway in Kogi, a bus driver, Sulaiman Oyedokun, 47, was arrested with 337,800 capsules of the same drug concealed in his vehicle en route to Niger State.
In Taraba, NDLEA operatives, working with local security, destroyed 4.5 hectares of cannabis farmland estimated at 11,250kg and later seized 29,840 tramadol capsules from 20-year-old Saleh Babangida in Wukari.
Kaduna recorded four arrests: two men were caught with 22,640 pills of tramadol and rohypnol, while two others were intercepted with 111.1kg of cannabis along the Zaria-Kano Road.
In Edo, 562kg of cannabis was recovered in separate raids in Etsako West and Owan West LGAs, while in Kano, operatives arrested two suspects with 92kg of cannabis. At Badagry in Lagos, a suspect was caught with 4,320 ampoules of ketamine injection.
NDLEA said the arrests and seizures were part of a week-long nationwide clampdown on drug trafficking.
