An Osun-based cleric, Prophet Samson Omo Alagbara, has urged members of the Ifesowapo Social Club to embrace unity and love as essential tools for organisational development and societal progress.
Prophet Samson, who serves at the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Goshen Land, Osogbo, made the call while delivering a sermon at the club’s first anniversary celebration held on Saturday, December 13, at Fakunle, Osogbo.
He prayed for increase among members and stressed that unity remains indispensable to the stability, sustainability and advancement of any organisation.
“Unity is very important in any organisation. Without unity and love, an organisation cannot stand, progress or achieve meaningful development, whether among leaders or members,” he said.
The cleric attributed many of the challenges confronting the nation to the absence of unity, urging leaders to adopt patience, endurance, selflessness and perseverance as pathways to national development.
“The condition of the nation is bad because there is no unity. Leaders must also learn how to endure. Patience, selflessness and perseverance are necessary for societal progress,” he added.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Ogundare Kayode, popularly known as Oriade, who was appointed as Patron of the organisation, highlighted the club’s focus on the economic empowerment and welfare of its members.
He explained that one of the club’s core objectives is to provide financial support through a weekly contribution system aimed at strengthening members’ businesses and livelihoods.
“One of the major aims of this organisation is to assist each and every member financially. We operate a weekly contribution system that supports members to grow their businesses,” he said.
Oriade also called for expanded membership, urging the club to be more inclusive by opening its doors to men and other interested individuals.
“They should give room for more membership opportunities in society and also allow men to join the group. It should not be for women alone,” he added.
Also speaking, the President of the Ifesowapo Social Club, Mrs. Ajiboye Biola, described the anniversary as a significant milestone in the club’s mission to promote mutual support among members.
She urged members to sustain the values of love and unity while inviting prospective members to join the organisation.
“We are celebrating our first year anniversary, and our main objective is to assist ourselves in times of need. We also welcome new members because in this club, there is room for love and we help one another,” she said.
The anniversary celebration featured prayers, goodwill messages and reflections on the achievements recorded by the club within its first year.
