The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and a driver for alleged electoral offences during the Federal Constituency by-election in Iperu Remo, Ogun State, on Saturday, August 16, 2025.

According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, the suspects were apprehended at about 12:45 a.m. by a police patrol team attached to the Iperu Remo Division.

The team intercepted a Mitsubishi Spacewagon with registration number LAGOS AKD 887 HT, occupied by Mr. Toryem Joe-Stans and Ms. Mandara Aminat, both INEC officials, along with their driver.

A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of ₦2.5 million from Mr. Joe-Stans. During interrogation, he reportedly confessed that the money was collected at Kehoy Hotel, Iperu, from a man he identified as “Political Solution,” allegedly on the directive of his supervisor.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, Ph.D., has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for discreet investigation.

Ogunlowo assured the public that security monitoring of the by-election remains ongoing and pledged that the command would keep citizens updated on the outcome of the investigation.
