In a bid to equip young learners with the necessary skills for the future, Kingdom Kids International School, Okinni, Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State, Friday, organized its maiden ICT exhibition titled “Artificial Intelligence: Role of STEM and ICT Education.”

The event, featuring Year 1 to Year 5 pupils, showcased the school’s commitment to integrating technology into early education.

Speaking at the exhibition, the Head of School, Temitope Taiwo, emphasized the importance of preparing children for the evolving technological landscape.

“In the world of tomorrow, things will advance far beyond what we know today. We are preparing our pupils for that future,” she said.

According to Taiwo, the pupils had been undergoing training for over five months in ICT and STEM-related projects. The exhibition provided an opportunity for them to demonstrate their knowledge and skills.

She urged parents to support their children’s engagement with technology, stressing that activities such as designing and programming are not a waste of time but essential skills for the future. “Many parents might feel their children are spending too much time on computers, but no one knows what each child’s future holds,” she added.

On the impact of artificial intelligence in education, Taiwo highlighted its role in enhancing critical thinking, assisting with homework, and supporting self-learning beyond the classroom.

“AI can help children learn languages and conduct research, but it’s important to balance AI usage with independent thinking. AI won’t always provide all the answers; children need to develop their critical thinking skills as well,” she noted.

She further emphasized that the school’s goal is to “catch them young” and nurture future leaders equipped with the skills to explore, innovate, and contribute meaningfully to society.

The exhibition marked the beginning of what the school envisions as a long-term commitment to integrating STEM and AI education into its curriculum, ensuring that pupils are well-prepared for a technology-driven world.
