The Special Adviser to former Governor Gboyega Oyetola on Youth and Sports, Hon
Adegboyega Adelabu Aremo, has congratulated former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji on his affirmation as the All Progressive Congress (APC), candidate for the August 8 governorship election in Osun State.

Aremo in a congratulatory message made available to journalists in Osogbo immediately after the APC primary election, on Saturday said the emergence of Oyebamiji as the party’s Flagbearer is an affirmation of his acceptability by all the party members.

The Osogbo born politician however lauded the leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC), other aspirants the entire members of the party for affirming Oyebamiji as the party’s governorship candidate for the upcoming election.

While acknowledging the vital roles being played by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola in ensuring that the party remain united and undivided before, during and after the primary, Aremo eulogized the Minister for being a peace loving leader.

Aremo described Oyebamiji as a capable and visionary leader who has what it takes to lead the state to economic growth and development.

The development comes after a reported agreement among six APC governorship aspirants to step down for Oyebamiji following a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday.

The aspirants, according to insiders, unanimously adopted Oyebamiji as the party’s consensus candidate, ending weeks of speculation about a possible internal party conflict.

In his congratulatory message, Hon. Aremo said, “The choice of Bola Oyebamiji is a welcome development for the APC and for the state. He is a tested and trusted leader, with a wealth of experience in public service. His leadership will ensure the party’s success in the upcoming elections.”

Aremo further highlighted Oyebamiji’s track record, noting his previous roles as Commissioner for Finance and Managing Director of Water Management, positions that have equipped him with the skills to manage the state’s economic and infrastructural development effectively.

Oyebamiji’s emergence as the consensus candidate will strengthen the APC’s position ahead of the elections.

The unity demonstrated by the aspirants stepping down shows that the party is determined to present a cohesive front. Oyebamiji’s experience in governance makes him a formidable candidate.

The August 8 elections are expected to be closely contested, with Oyebamiji now positioned as a leading candidate, backed by both the party hierarchy and influential stakeholders.

With the APC rallying behind a single candidate, attention now shifts to how the opposition will respond and the strategies both sides will employ in the final weeks leading to the polls.
