Locals gathered at the scene as news spread across the town.
A viral video circulating online showed the body of the deceased, clad in a blue shirt, lying motionless near the remnants of the fallen statue.
Confirming the incident, a resident of Ijebu Ode, Hakeem Quadri, told
, “The incident is real; it happened right in front of my house. We all heard people making noise, and when I got outside, I saw that the Agemo statue had been removed.”
