JUST IN: Lawan Defends Tinubu’s Accessibility, Says He Maintains Contact With President
Former Senate President Ahmad Lawan has dismissed claims that President Bola Tinubu is inaccessible, insisting that he maintains direct access to the nation’s leader.
Speaking to State House correspondents on Thursday after a meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Lawan said he prefers to communicate his views and concerns privately with Tinubu rather than making public statements.
“I have access to the President,” the former Senate President, who represents Yobe North, stated.
Lawan’s remarks come amid mounting criticism from some members of the political class, who have accused the Tinubu administration of being controlled by a small circle of individuals and running what they describe as a “kleptocratic government.”
Senator Ali Ndume, who represents Borno South, has been particularly vocal in his criticisms of the administration.
Reacting to such allegations, Lawan cautioned politicians against remaining idle or resorting to baseless accusations, urging them instead to take proactive steps toward national development.
“It is not fair to sit somewhere and say the President is not accessible,” he said.
He added that responsible leaders should engage constructively with the government rather than resort to public criticism.
