NPA Empowers 250 Osun Residents With Generators, Freezers
Not less than 250 residents of Osun State have benefitted from the Corporate Social Responsibility of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, receiving gas-powered generators and 160 litres chest freezers.
The beneficiaries, mostly youths and women, were drawn from four Local Government Council Areas of Osogbo federal constituency, including Orolu, Irepodun, Olorunda and Osogbo local government areas.
The distribution of the equipments, which was in collaboration with Ileri-Oluwa empowerment group, held at Osogbo local government council Secretariat, was targeted at giving financial freedom to the beneficiaries.
Speaking with newsmen, Dr Dare Adeyemi, who represented the Executive Director, Marine and Operations, NPA, Engr. Olalekan Badmus, disclosed that the choices of refrigerators and generators was arrived at after need assessment study of the beneficiaries.
“Today’s event is not just another gathering; it is a continuation of a commitment that the Nigerian Ports Authority has sustained for the past three years through our Corporate Social Responsibility programmes.
“At the NPA, we believe that development must go beyond the ports and must touch the lives of people across the nation. This has been the driving force behind our decision to support communities, especially those that need opportunities the most.
“The empowerment tools and grants we are presenting today are part of that long-standing commitment to help our people grow their businesses, support their families and strengthen the local economy”, he added.
Meanwhile, a former Commissioner in the State, Engr. Sola Oladepo, said the empowerment scheme facilitated by Engr. Badmus would go a long way in boosting socio-economic activities of the federal constituency, especially the State capital.
While commending NPA’s Managing Director, Engr. Abubakar Dantsoho for giving residents of the state the opportunity to benefit from its CSR, he tasked beneficiaries to make judicious use of the equipments.
