Victory Support Foundation, SWPG Offer Free Healthcare to Ife Residents, Other Ethnics

By Adedamola Odeyemi, Osogbo

The Victory Support Foundation, in collaboration with the South West Progressive Group (SWPG), held a free medical outreach for residents of Ife Central Local Government Area of Osun State, providing health consultations, drugs, and eyeglasses to hundreds of beneficiaries that Include Hausas and Igbos.

Speaking at the event on Sunday Ambassador Lawal Olubunmi Olufunmilayo, founder of the Victory Support Foundation, said the initiative was borne out of concern for the growing health challenges faced by many Osun residents.

“The people of Osun are facing a lot of health challenges, and that was the reason we started this free medical outreach,”

“Even we didn’t expect the turnout to be this massive, but the way people have been calling us for help shows how much they need it. We were recently in Modakeke, and the report we got was very encouraging. I return all the glory to God who has sustained us this far,” Oluwafunmilayo mentioned.

Ambassador Lawal noted that many residents find it difficult to access hospitals and maternity centres due to the stress and cost involved, which was why the foundation decided to bring medical services closer to their doorstep.

“Before now, people needed to buy cards and go through long processes before getting attention in government hospitals. Some even spend money on transport just to see a nurse or doctor. But now, the medical team is right here with them — attending to everyone freely,” she added.

She emphasized that the outreach was open to all, irrespective of political or ethnic background.

“We are not doing this for a particular party,” she clarified. “The Hausas are here, the Igbos are here, the Iyalojas and market women are here. We are not restricting anybody from coming.”

Also speaking, Hon. Otunba Olusegun Ayodele Fanibe, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ife Central, commended the foundation and its partners for their humanitarian gesture.

“It’s a great thing to remember people in need,” Fanibe said. “When we talk about health, we talk about wealth. We really appreciate this support, and we look forward to more of such benefits for our people in Ife and beyond,” Fanibe mentioned.

He further expressed confidence in the leadership of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebanji, describing him as a “cool-headed, God-gifted and accountable man” who would bring meaningful development to Osun State if given the opportunity to serve as governor.

“Our confidence lies in him,” Fanibe added. “We believe he will be proactive and responsive to the needs of our people once he assumes office.”

Several beneficiaries also expressed gratitude to the organizers for the timely intervention.

Mrs. Adefunmi Ogunleye Olori, one of the residents, said she was delighted to receive free medication and a new pair of reading glasses.

“I didn’t pay a dime for the drugs and the glasses I got today,” she said. “Even buying ordinary paracetamol at the Pharmacy is now expensive. I thank God and appreciate the organizers for this help.”

Another beneficiary, Mr. Fayoyin Koseni, praised the initiative, saying it has brought relief to people who could not afford medical care.

“I’m very happy and thankful to everyone who made this happen,” he said. “If this continues, many people who have health problems but lack money will finally get help.”
