Fish Out, Prosecute Killers Of Our Colleague, Oyo NUJ Tells Police
Journalists under the platform of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, have appealed to the state police command to fish out and prosecute the killers of one of their colleagues, Ojo Peter.
The union made this declaration on Wednesday, September 10, in a statement signed by its acting Chairman, Olusola Oladapo.
Peter, a former reporter with Parrot Extra and Daily Monitor, was shot during a daylight robbery along the Molete-Oke Ado axis of Ibadan on 18th August this year.
Oladapo, in the statement, tasked the police to unravel the circumstances that led to the death of the deceased, while demanding a thorough investigation into the killing of the journalist.
The statement said, “The union is saddened by the news of Ojo Peter’s recent killing in Ibadan by suspected armed robbers. The attack occurred along the Molete-Oke Ado axis of Ibadan, Oyo State, on August 18, 2025, around 2 p.m.
“Sources said Ojo Peter was robbed of his cross bag; despite pleading to the robbers that the bag contained no money, he was still shot in the back.
“We urge the state police command to fish out the killers of the deceased journalist”, the statement stressed.
