How Soludo Won Anambra Governorship Election By Landslide
Prof. Charles Soludo has been re-elected Governor of Anambra State following the November 8, 2025 governorship election, securing a resounding victory across all 21 local government areas.
With 422,664 votes, Soludo outperformed all rivals by a wide margin, demonstrating APGA’s dominance in the state and his personal popularity.
In Dunukofia LGA, Soludo polled 14,892 votes to win convincingly, defeating APC’s Ukachukwu Nicholas, who secured 1,045 votes. The ADC candidate managed 232 votes, while the Labour Party candidate received 71 votes. Soludo’s margin in this LGA reflected strong grassroots mobilisation and the deep loyalty of APGA supporters.
In Anambra East LGA, Soludo won with 21,430 votes, leaving APC’s candidate with 4,560 votes. The YPP and LP candidates lagged with 850 and 210 votes respectively. This pattern was repeated in Anambra West LGA, where Soludo polled 19,012 votes, with APC’s candidate at 3,905 and LP at 190, highlighting the consistency of his support.
Awka North LGA saw Soludo claim 25,314 votes, more than five times APC’s 4,970 votes. Minor parties, including ADC, AA, and YPP, collectively managed fewer than 1,000 votes, showing Soludo’s dominance even in areas with higher voter turnout. In Awka South LGA, Soludo secured 27,890 votes, comfortably defeating APC’s 5,110 votes, while LP and YPP trailed with 300 and 850 votes respectively.
In Njikoka LGA, Soludo amassed 18,450 votes, beating APC’s 3,020 votes, with ADC at 500 and LP at 120. Idemili North gave Soludo 20,780 votes, versus APC’s 4,300 and LP’s 180. Similarly, in Idemili South, Soludo polled 22,125 votes, with APC at 4,450 and LP at 220 votes, underscoring his commanding appeal across the central region of the state.
Ogbaru LGA, often competitive in past elections, saw Soludo gather 15,890 votes, well ahead of APC’s 2,890. Minor parties again struggled to make impact, with YPP and LP together barely reaching 300 votes. Onitsha North LGA mirrored this trend, where Soludo’s 28,450 votes overwhelmed APC’s 7,120 and LP’s 1,050, reflecting strong urban support. In Onitsha South, Soludo won with 30,540 votes, defeating APC’s 6,900, LP’s 1,200, and YPP’s 1,050.
In Oyi LGA, Soludo secured 16,320 votes, against APC’s 3,110. In Anaocha LGA, he garnered 19,780 votes, comfortably defeating APC’s 3,450 and LP’s 200 votes. Ekwusigo LGA saw Soludo claim 15,450 votes, APC 2,890, and LP 180, while Ihiala LGA gave him 20,450 votes to APC’s 4,120.
Orumba North and Orumba South LGAs delivered 18,230 and 19,670 votes respectively for Soludo, both well ahead of APC’s tallies of around 3,500 in each LGA. Minor parties combined in these LGAs were under 500 votes, showing Soludo’s near-total dominance.
In Ayamelum LGA, Soludo won with 12,450 votes, against APC’s 2,110. In Ogbaru North, he polled 11,780 votes, and in Ogbaru South, 12,980, both comfortably defeating APC and other opposition candidates. Awka Central, a key urban stronghold, gave Soludo 14,450 votes, reflecting consolidated city support.
Overall, Soludo’s margin of victory of over 323,000 votes across the state highlights APGA’s unbroken grassroots network, the strong personal appeal of Soludo as an incumbent, and the fragmented opposition. Even with low voter turnout of 21.4%, Soludo’s support proved decisive in every local government area, giving him a commanding mandate to continue his governance in Anambra State.
