OSCO-HEALTH Governing Board Meets; Advance Case For Structural Development of Institution
-Takes Various Decisions To Improve College
The Governing Board of the Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesa has concluded plans for the development of various physical structures on the campus of the institution in a bid to meet with its peers across the world.
Rising from its Council meeting held on Thursday and Friday at the board room of the College, they unanimously agreed on the development of some physical structures within and around the College as well as erecting new ones.
The board comprising of political appointees and top management staff of the College which include Chairman of the board, Hon. Abayomi Adegoke and the Provost of the College, Dr Lateef Olarewaju Raheem alongside other board embarked on a tour round major structures and land territory of the institution.
Led by the Board Chairman, the about two hours tour took the board to parts of the College which has been earmarked for the construction of a modern hostel facility for students as well as other development structures.
Speaking shortly after the tour, Chairman of the Governing Council, Hon. Abayomi Adegoke said the growth and development the College is very paramount to Governor Ademola Adeleke.
He said the Governor is determined to maintain the name and prestige of the College as the best health training institution in the country, hence, all stakeholders must work assidiously to ensure that the dream of the Governor is achieved.
Hon. Abayomi stressed that his ambition as Chairman of the board is to improve the College from where he met it to an enviable standard, while charging both the management and staff of the College to continue to cooperate with the board to achieve success.
According to him, “We must all join hands together without wasting time to ensure the growth of this great institution. That is the mandate given to us by the Governor and we must strive to achieve it as soon as possible.
“It is our collective responsibility to ensure that the name and face of this College changes for good, it is time this College begins to compare with other campuses in the country in terms of physical structures and aesthetics. I am sure we can achieve it with determination and clear focus.
“As resolved at the Council meeting, let’s begin to set every necessary machinery in motion to reclaim the portion of land that belongs to our College which the Ministry of Water Resources have been occupying for many years.
“It is a piece of land that is strategically located and it will no doubt be of huge economic benefit to the College by the time we put it into use, there a lot of things which we can do on the land which will boost our Internally Generated Revenue.
“We must also take decisive and deliberate steps to boost our security architecture both within and outside the College for the safety of both lives and properties, it is time we engage the services of a Chief Security Officer for the College”.The Chairman stated.
Also speaking, the Provost of the College, Dr Lateef Olarewaju Raheem assured the Chairman of the cooperation of the College management and stresed the commitment to achieve the desired results.
Some major decisions reached and approved at the council meeting include: intensifying efforts to pursue the process of changing the College Nomenclature from Monotechnic to a full fledge Polytechnic of Health and Management Sciences, the engagement of consultant on the revaluation and completion of Assets Register for the College, the immediate take-off of the Institution Car Wash Venture, the beautification of the College frontage.
Others are: the employment of a Chief Security Officer to beef-up the security of the Institution, that the College should reclaim the land occupied by the Ministry of water resources among others.
