Osun: Salu Bans Egungun Festival In Edunabon
The Salu of Edunabon, Oba Oladepo Adesoji, Akinrinsa 11, has banned Egungun festival in Edunabon till further notice
Speaking with journalist in Edunabon, Oba Oladepo stated that all the activities concerning Egungun festival in Edunabon should be put on hold for now till further notice
He used the avenue to announced the suspension of Alagbaa of Edunabon James Ojuloge and to stop parading himself as Alagbaa henceforth.
The Royal Father explained that as traditional ruler and custodian of culture he didn’t against Egungun festival but must pass due process.
According to him, Ojuloge has no respect for the traditional stool of Salu of Edunabon and for lacking the native intelligent, he can’t continue to hold the sacred and important position like that of Alagbaa
Oba Oladepo, therefore reiterated his commitments towards the upliftment of cultural heritage and tradition of Edunabon
He added that as Alagbaa been suspended, any illegal arrangements concerning Egungun festival in Edunabon before the announcement of the new Alaagba will attract wrath of the law.
The Salu urged the people of Edunabon to go about their normal activities and be law abiding, assured them of no cause for alarm, but stressed for maintaining peaceful coexistence in the town.
