Niniola Opens Up On Rejection, Hurt, Loss Of Father
Nigerian singer and songwriter, Niniola Apata has opened up on how she handled rejection in her music career journey.
While speaking in an interview with VJ Adams, Niniola stressed that she mostly received encouragement from her family and friends.
She revealed that the words of affirmation she received during that time helped her stay focused.
Why I rejected record labels for 10 years – Niniola reveals
“First of all, I would say respect for myself, believe in myself, believe in God, also my family and friends, because they told me constantly that I was good, so it stuck. So when I get the nos, I didn’t give up. I cried, it hurt me. I decided that I would be so good that nobody will be able to question my craft and then I went on to join a live band and learnt how to perform to a live audience. I’m glad I did though it was crazy,” she said.
Niniola also stated that she is grateful despite the challenges as it helped her rediscover herself. The artist also opened up on the loss of her father, stating that she misses her childhood.
“I am grateful to God, grateful to everyone that has given me an opportunity, to discover myself and rediscover myself. I miss my father, I was his favourite. I miss that time, the innocence, not paying bills and my family,” she stated.
