By Omolola Okanlawon
The Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called on the diplomatic community to issue a visa ban on the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola and his Justice counterpart, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, over alleged attack on democracy by influencing withholding of the Local Government fund in the state.
In a press statement issued by the PDP Chairman, Sunday Bisi, on Monday, the Party claimed that both officials have been holding Osun’s Local government Funds for five months.
“The party accused the duo of plotting and executing the current local government crisis in Osun state through deliberate disobedience of a Court of Appeal judgment recognizing PDP elected chairmen and councillors and through callous withholding of local government allocations for the past five months”, he said.
The PDP claims Oyetola used his family connection with president Tinubu to wrongly intend to send Local government money to sack APC Chairmen, withhold Osun Local government allocations even though the court said this was illegal.
Bisi added that the party has asked international groups like Tranparency International,International Crisis group,Amnesty International to Western Embassies and many among others to punish both individuals, including issuing visa ban and other disciplinary actions
“We seek visa ban and other sundry punitive actions to force these federal officials to comply with the rule of law. This is a democracy and no individual should be allowed to breach the constitution and due process as Mr Oyetola and the AGF are doing in Osun state.
“The PDP vowed to persist in pushing its protests from the Transparency International, International Crisis Group, Amnesty International to Western Embassies and the European Union until legitimately elected council leadership in Osun are allowed to function through immediate release of Osun local government allocations”.
