Go After Financiers Of Insecurity, APC Chieftain Appeals To Tinubu, Security Agencies
Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun has appealed to President Bola Tinubu and the heads of security agencies in the country to go after those financing insecurity in the country.
Oyintiloye, a member of defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) made the appeal while speaking with newsmen on Sunday in Osogbo.
The APC Chieftain said that the recent attacks on Benue and Plateau states, where many innocent people were slaughtered, was pathetic and unacceptable.
Oyintiloye, a former lawmaker, said that as long as the bandits were still having access to food and ammunitions, it would be difficult to crush them.
He, however, said once sources of supply of the basic human needs and weapons are cut off by arresting those supplying the criminals, security agencies would be able to curtail activities of the insurgents.
Oyintiloye, who noted that criminals could not operate without support from certain quarters, challenged security agencies to work harder to identify the suppliers of weapons and operational vehicles, hard drugs among others to the bandits.
” The point is that to effectively combat insecurity in the country, it is important to target the individuals and entities that are bankrolling criminal activities and insurgencies.
” This, however, requires a multifaceted approach for high, including strengthening intelligence gathering and analysis, implementing robust anti-corruption measures, and fostering international cooperation to disrupt financial flows.
“And this is the area the security agencies need to beam their search lights.
“There is no doubt that the security agencies are doing their best and the result of their efforts is glaring for all to see but more needed to be done in exposing the sponsors this evil act”, he said.
Oyintiloye, who declared that incessant killings of innocent Nigerians should not be allowed to go on, unchallenged, saying that those using the insecurity to score political points against the President should be treated as enemies of the country.
The APC chieftain, who commended the President on his efforts to tackle insecurity l in the last two years, urged him to allow for public prosecution of the financiers of the bandits.
The former lawmaker urged the government to address our institutional framework, which has become very weak over time and has affected governance negatively, “our democratic value, and accountability.
“This resulted in high rates of unemployment, poverty, illiteracy, and lack of effective policing and weak criminal justice systems.”
According to him, “Arresting financiers of insurgency without addressing the issues of criminal justice by prosecuting them publicly might not yielded the needed results.”
He however expressed optimism that Nigeria will overcome its current security challenges.
for the frequent collapse of the grid, so as to, restore sanity to the power sector.
Oyintiloye, a member of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) also said that for the grid to have collapsed 12 times within a year shows that something is wrong somewhere.
” I believe that Presidential investigation into this matter will unravel what the problem is and the possible lasting solution to it.
” The country is blessed with all the resources needed to keep the grid running , then why the collapse all the time?
“The embarrassment must stop and sanity must be brought back to the power sector for the sake of our economy. If act of sabotage is involved, through investigation, that will be revealed,” he said.
Oyintiloye said that at the end of the investigation, anyone found culpable of sabotaging the efforts of the government in ensuring stable power supply must be made to face the consequences.
He also urged the minister of power, Adebayo Adelabu, to put in more effort in ensuring that those responsible for the maintenance of the grid were up to their responsibilities.
Oyintiloye said that since Nigerians were already paying so much for electricity, they should be allowed to enjoy the benefits.

Increase in cost of food items worrisome – Oyintiloye
Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a Cheiftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, has said that the hike in food prices was becoming worrisome and unbearable for the masses in the country.
Oyintiloye, a member of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), said this while speaking with newsmen on Sunday in Osogbo.
The APC Cheiftain said that the hike in food prices had increased significantly, making it difficult for the masses to afford good meals.
He said there was an urgent need for the governments at all levels to come to the rescue of the masses by providing solutions to the challenge.
Oyintiloye said that cost of basic foodstuffs such as rice, beans, garri, semovita, yam flour, among others, were getting out of the reach of the masses, making them to eat whatever is available.
According to him, the rise in food prices is mostly caused by insecurity, high cost of transportation of the products, climate change, and the instability of the exchange rate of naira.
Oyintiloye, a former lawmaker, added that the astronomical rise in the food prices had battered the purchasing power of citizens, leading to uncertainty, an increase in poverty, and a high cost of living.
He said that with food as a primary resource for human survival, the government at every level should undertake tangible programmes to defeat hunger in the land.
According to him, a recent survey conducted by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) also confirmed that food prices have risen by over 100 per cent.
Oyintiloye said that the survey, which was the 2023/24 General Household Survey-Panel, commonly called (GHS-Panel), launched on Nov. 25, in Abuja, revealed that 65.8 per cent of the households were unable to eat healthy, nutritious, or preferred foods because of low income.
The APC Cheiftain said that while President Bola Tinubu-led administration was doing everything possible to bring down the food prices, many Nigerians were still struggling to eat three square meals.
Oyintiloye said that despite the food waiver policy being implemented by the federal government and the Central Bank’s intervention to curb inflation through the monetary policy, the prices of food were still on a very high side
“The exchange rate fluctuations further exacerbate this issue, particularly affecting the prices of imported food items
“The situation on the prices of food is becoming worrisome and extremely unbearable for the masses.
“Many households can no longer afford nutrition meals, while many are begging for survival. This is pathetic and no longer bearable for the masses. I urge Governors and the Federal government to intensify efforts and to stop further increase in the cost of food items. The situation may worsen, if factors leading to the increase are left unattended to, “he said.
Oyintiloye noted that the hike in food prices could worsen if immediate action was not taken to address the underlying factors driving food costs.
He urged the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission(FCCPC) to continue to uphold their mandate by protecting and promoting the interest and welfare of the consumers by reviewing economic activities to enhance quality product at competitive prices.
As the festive period was approaching, he also urged governments at all levels to set up markets where food could be bought at a subsidised rate by the citizens as a temporary measure.
“Federal Government and States should set up food markets for people to buy basic food items at subsidized rate to cushion the challenge, at least for this festive season,” he concluded.

Act quickly, save masses from hardship, APC chieftain appeals to Tinubu
Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun has appealed to President Bola Tinubu, to act very quickly and save the masses from further hardship.
Oyintiloye, a former lawmaker said that the suffering Nigerians were passing through at the moment has made it mandatory for the President to act faster and employ strategies that would bring instant reprieve.
The APC Chieftain, while speaking with newsmen on Sunday in Osogbo, although expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s ability to ameliorate the suffering of the masses, he however suggested that strategies that would bring instant relief should be adopted.
Oyintiloye, a member of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), also noted the economic hardship the masses were currently going through due to the increase in pump prices which has led to the rise in prices of food stuffs, as well as, rise in electricity tariff, cost of cooking gas, among others thus making life unbearable for Nigerians.
He said the recent increment in the pump price has worsened the hardship Nigerian masses were contending with, further said “Nigerians are hopeful that there will be positive turn around in the country but measures to achieve this must be accelerated.
“There is no doubt that the president is doing everything humanly possible to ameliorate the suffering of the masses, but a faster approach must be considered.
“The president should ensure that every bureaucratic bottleneck that is impeding the swift implementation of policies that will put smiles on the faces of the masses is removed.
“The economic suffering the masses are currently going through is becoming unbearable and the president must act fast.”
Oyintiloye also urged the president to address the delay in the implementation of the suspension of customs duties and taxes on imported food items two months after the initiative was announced.
The ex lawmaker also said since the initiative was said to be part of measures to combat rising food inflation across the country, there should not be any delay in its implementation.
Oyintiloye, recalled that on August 7, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, assured that the implementation of the policy would commence the following week once the guidelines were ready, lamenting that up till now, the policy was yet to be implemented
He said, “There no doubt that the president is passionate and willing to put smiles on the faces of the masses but those who are in charge of implementing these policies should not be seen as road blocks.
“The president gave a directive to
the authorities of the Nigeria Customs Services that a 150-day duty-free window to allow the importation of maize, husked brown rice, and wheat and almost two months after this is yet to be implemented.
“That is not good enough. The president cannot be every where and that is why his foot soldiers must be proactive in taking steps to achieve the president’s desire.
“The masses are angry and hungry. And that is why all measures to ameliorate this should be implemented very quickly.”
He appealed to people responsible for the drafting of the guidelines for the implementation of the policy to do the needful, adding that the initiative, when implemented would crash food prices without affecting local production.
He urged Nigerians to continue supporting the President, saying that all the policies implemented at the moment might seem painful but would be of great benefits in the long run.
