Ekiti Government Orders Probe Into Alleged Kidney Removal At Teaching Hospital
The Ekiti State Government has called for calm following claims by Mr. Afolayan Adebayo that his kidneys were removed during a medical procedure at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado-Ekiti.
Health Commissioner Dr. Oyebanji Filani confirmed that the government is fully aware of the allegation and is treating the matter with the utmost seriousness.
Dr. Filani said he has directed the Teaching Hospital Board to set up an independent investigative committee to examine the claim.
“We understand the concern this report has generated among the public, and we appeal for calm while the investigation progresses,” he stated.
“The government of Ekiti State remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the safety of everyone who seeks medical care in our facilities.”
He assured residents that public hospitals in the state operate under strict ethical and professional standards and warned that appropriate action would follow if any breach is confirmed.
The government urged the public and media to avoid speculation and allow the committee to complete its work, noting that the findings will be released once the investigation concludes.
