Police Nab Six Cultist Suspects, Recover Firearms In Osun

Osun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of six suspected members of Aiye, Buccaneer confraternities, and the recovery of firearms in separate operations across the state.
The Osun State Police Command through its Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the arrest of all the suspected cultists in a statement on Friday.
According to him, these operations were carried out under the directive of the Police Commissioner, CP Ibrahim Gotan, as part of an intensified effort to rid the state of cult activities and other vices.
Ojelabi noted that on August 21, 2025, about 6:30 pm, operatives of the Command’s Anti-cultism unit arrested two suspected notorious cultists, Taiwo Oluwatobi (Orife) and Oluwabusuyi Ajayi (Aga).
He stated that the duo were arrested during the student union week of a higher institution in the state, and subsequently, they confessed to being members of Aiye and Buccaneer Confraternity, respectively.
Ojelabi also noted that earlier on August 19, operatives of the Command’s Anti-cultism unit, upon receiving credible intel of suspected Aiye cult members terrorising the residents of Okuku town, stormed the town, arresting four suspects, namely: Ayodeji Ismail, Owolabi Omobolaji, David Oluwatomisin, and Kolawole Segun.
In the same vein, a similar arrest occurred in Oke-Baale, Osogbo when the operatives received information of suspected members of Eiye Confraternity terrorising the residents of Gbeja area led by one Gafari
He explained that the suspects fled on sight; however, the detectives raided their hideout, which led to the recovery of one cut-to-size single-barreled gun, one cut-to-size double-barreled gun, five sharp cutlasses, one axe and three live cartridges.
Ojelabi added that efforts are being geared towards the arrest of the fleeing hoodlums, promising that the arrested suspects will be tried in court upon the completion of the investigation.
