I’m ‘Too Young’ For Ambassadorial Role, Says Shehu Sanni

Former Kaduna Central lawmaker Shehu Sani has dismissed speculation linking him to ambassadorial appointments, saying he is “too young” to take up such a role and still has unfinished work to deliver to the people of Kaduna State.

Sani made the remarks during an interview on the Arise Morning Show on Tuesday, days after President Bola Tinubu released the latest list of career and non-career ambassadorial nominees — without his name.

He clarified that at no point was he contacted or considered for the position.

“My name has never been on the list for an ambassadorial position. I read about it months ago,” he said.

Drawing from his experience as a former vice-chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Sani explained that ambassadorial appointments follow a strict process.

“You have to get a call and submit your CV, and you have to go for screening and security checks. None of these procedures ever took place with my name. So my name was never among them,” he said.

While addressing his future plans, Sani stressed that he remains focused on contributing to Kaduna rather than taking up foreign postings.

“I think I’m too young to be an ambassador. I still have a lot to deliver to my people in Kaduna State,” he stated.
