Hajj: Nigerian Pilgrim Dies In Mecca
A female pilgrim, Hajiya Jamila Muhammad, has died at the ongoing Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
Muhammad, who was from Plateau State, passed away at King Abdul’aziz Hospital in Makkah as a result of diabetic complications.
This has brought the number of death among Nigerian contingent in this year’s holy pilgrimage to three.
Earlier, pilgrims from Edo and Abia, Mrs. Adizatu Dazumi, and Alhaji Saleh Galeh, lost their lives.
The Executive Secretary of Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Daiyabu Dauda, confirmed the latest death on Monday.
Dauda recalled, when he was informed of her condition, he directed the medical team to immediately take her to the hospital for proper medication.
“It’s in accordance with the directives of our Governor , Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang that she was taken to the hospital.”
“From God we are, and to Him, we shall return. With a heavy heart and total submission to the will of Allah, Plateau wishes to announce the death of one of her female pilgrims, Hajiya Jamila Muhammad, on Monday, 2nd of June, 2025,” he added.
He said that the Amirul Hajj, as well as some other officials, along with the relatives of the deceased, attended her funeral prayers at the Grand mosque, and she has since been buried according to Islamic rites.
