The Bauchi Police Command said one person has been arrested over stabbing to death of former chairman of the Jama’are Local Government Area of State, Isa Wabi, and one of his suspected murderers found unconscious at the scene of the murder, but who later died at the hospital..

The incident occured early Friday at Wabi’s home in the Fadaman Mada area, behind the Government Girls’ Secondary School, Bauchi, the police command said in a statement.

According to the statement, police operatives who responded to a distress call from a concerned resident discovered the former local government chairman in critical condition with multiple stab wounds in the neck.

The Police officers rushed Wabi to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital where he was later confirmed dead.

The Police Command said its preliminary investigations indicated that the attack on Wabi was carried out by two individuals identified as Ahmad Abdulkadir (alias Abba) and Faruk Malami (alias Ajebo), who are acquaintances of the deceased local government chairman’s 24-year-old son, Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed.

“The suspects reportedly broke into the victim’s home around 3 am and conspired to assault him,” the statement read.

But Police added in the statement that in a twist to the events, one of the suspects, Malami (Ajebo), was also found unconscious at the scene, allegedly as a result of a retaliatory act.

Malami, police said, was taken taken to the hospital, where he was later declared dead.

The statement indicated that Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed has been arrested for questioning and is cooperating in providing crucial information as part of the ongoing investigation.

“The command is conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances of this unfortunate incident and ensure that all responsible parties are brought to justice,” the statement added.

Also, Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has visited the victim’s family to offer condolences.

The Police Commissioner assured them of a thorough and discreet investigation to ensure justice is served.
