Chad Closes Border With Nigeria Amid U.S. Invasion Rumours
The Government of Chad has announced the closure of its border with Nigeria over security concerns following rumours of alleged U.S. military operations in West Africa.
Military sources in N’Djamena confirmed on Monday that President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno ordered a complete military lockdown along the Nigerian border after intelligence reports revealed that terrorist elements from northern Nigeria were planning to infiltrate Chadian territory.
Sources said the Chadian army had been placed on high alert, with troops and armoured vehicles deployed across key border routes linking both nations.
President Déby stated that “no armed group or foreign force will be allowed to enter Chadian soil under any disguise.”
The move comes amid growing regional tension and speculation surrounding possible U.S. military intervention in West Africa.
Security analysts have described Chad’s decision as a strategic step to safeguard its sovereignty and prevent militant incursions exploiting the regional uncertainty.
