Osun 2026: Adebayo Adedamola Emerges PDP Gov’ship Candidate
By Michael Ojo, Osogbo
The defection of the incumbent Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke has pave the way for Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola, popularly known as FRYO, to emerge victoriously as the gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
CityMirrorNews reports that Adedamola emerged the 2026 governorship candidate of the PDP in Osun State after a keenly contested primary election.
It was earlier reported that Governor Adeleke dumped the PDP due to the irreconcilable crisis rocking the leadership of the party.
The primary held in Osogbo on Tuesday under tight security presence.
Announcing the results, Chairman Electoral Committee, Humphrey Abba stated that scored 919 votes out of the valid 957 accredited voters.
Despite announcing his resignation from the party, the name of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke appeared on the ballot paper for the PDP governorship primary.
Adeleke’s resignation, which became public on Monday night, was contained in a letter dated November 4, 2025, addressed to the chairman of Ward 2 in Ede North.
The development has created uncertainty ahead of the PDP governorship primary for the 2026 Osun election.
While the state chapter said the primary would be postponed due to internal disputes, the National Working Committee maintained that the exercise would go on, despite Adeleke being the only aspirant who purchased the nomination form.
