IPOB, COSEYL Condemn Killing Of Soldiers In Aba

As the May 30, killing of soldiers at their duty post in Aba, Abia State, continue to draw wide condemnation, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, have joined other groups and individuals to condemn the attack.

IPOB, whose members, in enforcing the sit -at -home it declared that day, to mourn its members, who had paid the supreme price in the Biafran struggle, are suspected to be the masterminds, denied involvement in the act.

The group’s media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, in a statement said, “We condemn the attack on military on duty in Aba, we are not involved because sit-at-home was because of our fallen heroes and heroines and time of mourning and not to attack any body in respect of that, therefore anybody mentioning IPOB as responsible for the attack in Aba is under the control of something, IPOB have no chance to attack anyone, those responsible for this attack are politicians they are planning to create problems in peaceful Enyimba city so the governor of Abia state must be careful they are coming to create crisis in Aba.”

IPOB said the perpetrators of the heinous act are not its members but criminals.

Also, COSEYL, the apex sociopolitical youth group in South East zone described the killing of military men at a checkpoint in Obikabia junction in Aba, Abia State, as condemnable, barbaric and wicked.

The youth group said the attack was “the handiwork of criminal elements hiding under the cover of Biafra struggle to perpetuate crime and destabilize Governor Otti’s government but their plans is dead on arrival.”

In a statement by its President General Comrade Goodluck Ibem, COSEYL said “It is very unfortunate that the soldiers who are peacefully performing their constitutional duties of providing security in the area will be attacked by gunmen without any form of provocation whatsoever. This is completely unacceptable.”

He noted that the incident was the second time a military checkpoint would be attacked by gunmen in the State and blamed it on enemies of Abia who are not happy with the transformational performance of Governor Alex Otti and are at work to destabilize the state.

While commiserating with the military over this great loss, COSEYL urged the public to work with the government to bring the culprits to book and Governor Otti to remain resolute and steadfast in his determination to make Abia better.
