'Let's quickly work towards ground breaking', Says Gov Uba Sani

As FHA MD Hon Oyetunde Ojo Commences Tour Of North West zone

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani has called on the Management of Federal Housing Authority to quickly work towards a ground breaking ceremony of the Renewed Hope Housing estate they are proposing in the state.

Sani made the call when the Authority’s Managing Director and Chief Executive, Hon Oyetunde Ojo led a team of his management on an official visit to his office on Thursday 28th March, 2024

Honourable Ojo had during his address told the governor that the purpose of his visit was a courtesy call, and to felicitate him over the return of the school children who were earlier abducted from the state, as well as to bring him the message of the President on the Renewed Hope Agenda on Housing.

The MD informed the Governor that President Tinubu has mandate Federal Housing Authority to provide mass and affordable houses for Nigerians.

According to him ,”we are here for two purposes; first to congratulate you on the return of our children. We all know the role you played as a father for their safe return, and secondly to pass the message of the President on Renewed Hope on Housing to you”.

The FHA boss therefore requested for land in Kaduna State from the governor for the purpose of the Renewed Hope estate.

“Our first mission is to secure land. We can not build on nothing. We want to build affordable housing”.

The Managing Director informed the governor that the Authority’s new End- user driven policy of consulting the State Governors before any project is sited in their states.

This he said is because the Governors as custodians of land are in closer touch with the people, know their culture and taste better and as such the states input and contributions to designs and house types would convey a sense of belonging and ownership of the projects to the people.

Hon. Ojo requested for off- takers from the governor, saying “we want to partner with you on off – takers”.

He also said that FHA want to use the power of building in this trying times to check inflation through the value chain of construction, by providing jobs for our youths. This he noted would also check insecurity.

On the model of delivery to be adopted by FHA, he said consideration would be on the lower income bracket, Authority would deliver one Bedrooms, Studio apartments and carcas, where only the exterior , plumbing and electrical would be done, allowing allottees to do the finishing according to their pockets. This he noted would check the high cost of delivery the houses.

He, however, reiterated the non – partisan stance of the President in the Renewed Hope Agenda, saying the project is to house all Nigerians irrespective of tribe or political affiliation.

” This not about politics. We have visited PDP states. From here will be heading to Kano State, which is under another different political party. Mr. President is ready to house Nigerians” he added.

In his response, Senator Uba Sani thanked the MD and his team for choosing to start the consultations of the North West from Kaduna State.

He noted both the political and economic strength of the state in the north, not only as the gate way , but the political capital.

The governor recognized the challenges of Housing deficit in the country and noted that government needs to be in the fore front of confronting the issue.

In his words, “I assure you that every one within our state would have shelter. Housing is the key. We are aware of the deficit and I believe government will be in the forefront to shelter people”.

Senator Sani informed the visiting team that the State Government has land to give FHA to develop.

Recognizing the positive effect of the project, the governor said: “We have land in Kaduna we can give you to develop. We will partner with you. What I ask you is to quickly write. If you write tomorrow, by Monday you have your allocation”, he said.
