16 Burnt To Death In Ondo Auto Crash
There was tragedy in Ajue Community on Ore/Ondo highway in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State as 16 persons were burnt to death in an accident that occurred on Monday night.
Aside the 16 persons killed, three people sustained varying degrees of injuries while two escaped unhurt in the accident that involved two vehicles that had head-on collision.
The sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Samuel Ibitoye, who confirmed the accident, blamed it on over speeding and wrong overtaking along the busy Ondo/ Ore road.
The Sector Commander said the accident occurred late on Monday and the rescue operation ended at about 11 pm. Ibitoye said investigations on what led to the accident have not been concluded.
He said a preliminary investigation indicated overspeeding and wrongful overtaking.
