Kidnappers Demand N3m Ransom For Abducted FUNAAB Student
The kidnappers who abducted a 300-level student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State, identified as Christiana Idowu, along the Ikorodu-Yaba Road last week has demanded the sum of N3 million for her release.
Christiana was reportedly on her way from her home in Ita-Oluwo, Ikorodu, to the University of Lagos in Yaba for her industrial training when she was seized by the abductors.
The family became concerned when they could no longer reach Christiana.
Shortly afterward, the kidnappers contacted them using her phone to demand the ransom.
After intense negotiations, the amount was reduced to N350,000, which the family paid to a specified account.
However, despite fulfilling the kidnappers’ demands, Christiana has not yet been released.
The kidnappers are now asking the family to provide a bank statement from the account used for the payment before releasing her.
A family source said, “They are communicating with the family through her WhatsApp, and after we paid the N350,000 ransom, they refused to release her and are demanding a bank statement from us.
We have reported the matter to the police and are seeking help from the government and the public.”
When contacted, Ogun State Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Folashade Oluwole, stated she was not aware of the incident but promised to follow up.
