Gunmen Kidnap Rivers IRS Director of
A Director at the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue, Aribibia Fubara has been reportedly kidnapped by yet to be identified gunmen.
Fubara, a senior staff of the Service was on Saturday kidnapped at the Okrika Waterfront near the Marine Base in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
New Telegraph gathered that the kidnappers numbering about six, stormed the area in a speedboat and cart away the revenue director.
It was further gathered that they fired gunshots into the air to scare people away before whisking away their target in what looked like a pre-planned kidnap operation.
As of the time of filing this report, it was not yet clear whether the family had been contacted by the kidnappers.
A spokesperson for the police in the state, Grace Iringe-Koko, said “The command is aware of the incident and the CP (Commissioner of Police, Tunji Disu) has directed tactical units in the command to ensure that the victim is released unhurt.
“A manhunt has been launched to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to book.”
