Delayed Commencement Of Vote, Low Turnout In Oyo LG Poll
Most polling units in ibadan metropolis have not commenced accreditation and voting as oyo state independent electoral commission (OYSIEC), officials are yet to arrive as at the time of filing this report.
CityMirrorNews correspondents monitoring exercise around Dugbe, Mokola, Monatan, Iwo road, Akobo among others observed that OYSIEC officials are yet to arrive the polling units.
Voting has, however, commenced in Ibadan northeast, ward 11, unit one, the polling unit of governor seyi makinde, who had yet to arrive to cast his vote.
Voting was also in progress at ward 11, Unit 16 and 17 , as well as some other parts of Ibadan northeast local government, iwo road.
In Oyo Town, there were also complaints that electoral materials did not get to the wards and units on time.
CityMirrorNews gathered that in Ilora Town some people were threatening some electorate not to approach polling units of they would not vote PDP. Aside that, electoral materials were not made available in many areas.
In Ogbomoso, there was also low turn out of voters.
According to a resident who simply identified himself as Kunle, “I am a card-carrying member of APC but I am not enthused to go and vote because we know the OYSIEC would have written their results. There is nothing independent in their activities. You can see apathy in people. Reports we hear even in other zones is the same. Who is ready to suffer himself for nothing sake? Even, many people that want to vote do not get materials to cast their votes. The whole process is sick”, he said.
