The Omoluabi Progressives Caucus of All Progressives Congress in Osun State has felicitated with the immediate past Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, on the award of excellence bestowed on him by the Africa Sports and Tourism Award (ASTA).
ASTA had on Friday honoured Aregbesola with the award in recognition of his contributions to the development of sports and tourism in Nigeria.
Congratulating Aregbesola, the Chairman of Omoluabi Progressives, Alhaji Azeez Adesiji, according to a statement signed by the group Organizing and Publicity Secretary, Abosede Oluwaseun, said Aregbesola deserved the award for his innovative ideas in governance.
Adesiji said: “We want to congratulate the architect of Modern Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on the befitting award bestowed on him by the team of Africa sports and tourism award (ASTA) at its 2024 edition.
“The awards which was organised to honour individuals, organisations and initiatives that have demonstrated outstanding contributions to leveraging sports to propel tourism development in Nigeria and beyond brings to the fore the beautiful and lofty contribution of Ogbeni to the upliftment of Tourism, Sport and Culture in the State.
“The good people of Osun can not forget in a hurry the beautiful artistic Calisthenics Sport brought to Osun again by Ogbeni after its fire has been quenched following the death of Chief Bola Ige who introduced it during the old Oyo State.
“We congratulate our symbol on the recognition of his contribution to the upliftment of Osun’s name and Nigeria as a whole. It doesn’t come to us as a surprise though, a golden fish has no hiding place.”
