Fear Grips Osogbo Residents As Suspected Ritualists Behead Woman, Dump Her Body

Fear has gripped residents of Oke-Baale area of Osogbo, capital of Osun State following the killing of a middle aged woman.

The woman, said to have been homeless for some months in the area, was butchered.

She was said to have been dragged into the back of the shops directly opposite Osogbo Local Government Secretariat where she was beheaded.

The assailants also cut off her two hands and left her remains at the vacant land in the area.

It was gathered at the scene of the crime that some suspected ritualists would have carried out the dastardly act.

Her remains was discovered on Tuesday morning by some shop owners in the area.

Gripped by panic, traders and shop owners in the vicinity refused to open their shops for business, apparently for fear of being arrested by the law enforcement agents.

As at 11:30am when our correspondent visited the scene, residents and passersby crowded the environment where the corpse was abandoned.

No security agents was seen on the area and neither did authorities of the local government had made any effort to evacuate the corpse.

It was gathered that the victim had been homeless for some months and had been living beside the road in the area and begging for alms.

A teenage girl who was always seen with the vulnerable woman was said to have been impregnated by some unknown men and had since been delivered.

Meanwhile, residents of the area called on government and other appropriate authorities to evacuate the corpse and investigate the horrible killing of the woman.
