Odeyemi who was one of the awardees stressed that misinforming the electorate brings about bad governance.

Odeyemi said, “I want to say that the Nigeria Institute Of Public Relations should not polish the bad eggs in politics.

“It’s not adviceable because when you dish out information of all black and white to the electorate it will bounce back to the type of governance they are going to get and this is very dangerous for the professionals and the society.

“So I will advice that we scrutinize very well before we embark on polishing the image of politicians.”

Earlier, in his address the Chairman, NIPR Osun State Chapter, Ademola Adesoji, urged Public Relations officers in the country not to relent in protecting the good image of their respective institutes, state and country at large.

His words, “I urge us not to relent in ensuring that we protect the good image of our state and institute. We should ensure that while others see only bad things about our state and nation, that we see the positive aspect and try to change the orientation of the people about Nigeria at large.

” I know that things may seem tough right now, but by contributing our quota as citizens and being the change that we want to see the country would get back on its feet and reclaim its glory days.”

Receiving the award as the Patron of NIPR in Osun State, Governor Ademola Adeleke, who was represented by the Commissioner of Information and public enlightenment in the state, Kolapo Alimi, thanked the NIPR adding that the important role of managing information between organisations, the public and the state at large is being appreciated.

Speaking on behalf of other award recipients, Head, Corporate Commission of Polaris Bank, Rasheed Bolarinwa said the award will spur them to do more as the image makers of their various organizations.

This is year 2024 being awarded by a chapter of a state where I hail from, this is a big honour and I will continue to be a very good ambassador of Osun State and continue to excel in the practice of Public Relations”.
