Two Reportedly Killed, Palace Burnt As Monarchy Dispute Turns Violent In Osun
Two persons – a civilian and a security personnel have allegedly been killed as a tussle over the monarchy of Araromi-Owu, a town in the Ayedaade local government area of Osun State escalated into a crisis on Tuesday.
It was gathered that trouble started around 2:00 p.m. when some hoodlums invaded the town and started causing trouble.
The sources who noted that the situation had been developing since last week before it eventually snowballed into a full-blown crisis, said many people were also injured.
A video shared on socio media watched by the medium showed some buildings being burnt while some cars, including a Lexus jeep, were also damaged.
One of the sources, who does not want his name in print said the hoodlums also burnt the community palace.
It was also gathered that some hoodlums waylaid a batch of security operatives deployed to the community inflicting injuries on some personnel.
Confirming the incident, the Osun police command spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola said a mobile police force has been deployed to the town along with a special police unit to restore peace.
