Ibadan Stampede: Ooni’s Ex-wife Silekunola Naomi, Oriyomi Hamzat, School Principal Remanded In Prison
A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State has ordered that Prophetess Naomi Silekunola an ex-wife of Ooni of Ile Ife, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat and Abdullahi Fasasi be remanded at the Agodi Correctional Center pending advice from the state prosecutor.
Silekunola, Hamzat who owns Agidigbo FM and Fasasi the principal of Islamic High School, were arraigned on Tuesday over their involvement in the December 18 Christmas Funfair stampede that led to the death of 35 children.
At their arraignment by the police, the trio were accused committing offence contrary to Section 324 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.
But the presiding Chief Magistrate sitting over the matter, Olabisi Ogunkanmi, ruled that legal advice was needed on the matter.
