Tinubu Orders Review Of Appointments Into Tertiary Institutions’ Governing Board
Amid the controversy greeting the newly constituted governing board of the tertiary institutions, President Bola Tinubu has ordered a thorough and all-encompassing examination of the process due to discrepancies in the most recent selections.
President Tinubu gave the order on Thursday in a statement made available to New Telegraph by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to him, the evaluation has to be completed prior to the nominees’ planned retreat and inauguration.
The names of nominees for chairmen, pro-chancellors, and members of boards and councils of universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education were recently made public by the Federal Ministry of Education, in response to threats made by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to go on strike over the purported delays in forming governing councils.
Onanuga said Tinubu is dedicated to making sure that the Constitution’s ingrained Federal Character idea is strictly adhered to.
“The review will also take into consideration national spread and ensure every part of the country is adequately represented,” he stated.
