Osun Police Partner CPN In Fight Against Child Abuse

The Osun State Police Command has declared its readiness to partner with Child Protection Network, CPN, a UNICEF affiliated organisation, working towards fighting the menace of child abuse in the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Umar Abba Mohammed made this known on Thursday during a courtesy call on him at the police Headquarters In Osogbo, by the executive members of the child protection Network.

According to a statement signed by the network spokesperson, Pastor Olabisi Olabode, and made available to CityMirrorNews, in Osogbo, CP Mohammed said that the police was in tune with the activities of the organisation and was committed to supporting it in all ramifications.

“We will build a strong relationship with you and we promise that any case of rape and others will be attended to as a matter of urgency” CP responded.

He instructed the PPRO to attend to any case brought to her with immediate effect even as he ordered the exchange of contact with other relative officers and assured them of strong relationship.

The Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command appreciated them on their work so far in combating child abuse in the State and assured them of the Command’s continuous support and partnership, with the State government; Ministry of Women affairs in jointly combating abuse and other vices against the children in Osun State.

The Coordinator of CPN , Mrs Titilola Odetayo who led other executive members of the group to state police headquarter requested for the cooperation and supports of police on cases of child abuse and molestations.

Odetayo commended the efforts of the PPRO and demanded for more supports, even as she described CPN as “Oliver Twist” who always wants more.

Odetayo briefed CP about the activities of the organization explained the group just concluded Peace Gathering few days ago.

Earlier , the legal adviser of the group,Barrister Ayoola Olusegun had called on police to assist them in speeding up the court cases in order not to discourage the victims and their families.

“Today 22nd February, 2024 the Child Protection Network ( CPN) Osun State Chapter visited the Commissioner of Police Osun State Command, CP Mohammed Umar Abba in his office to intimate him of their activities and presence in the State.

Barrister Olusegun while explaining the purpose of their visitation, requested further cooperation and supports of police on cases of child abuse and molestations, and in speeding up the court cases in order not to discourage the victims and their families.
