Osun State Government says it is ready to embrace e-mobility as part of its efforts to drive the climate agenda.

Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun gave this assurance while featuring in a panel discussion organized by CIG Motors in Lagos where stakeholders from government, corporate, private and business sectors converged to deliberate on how to create a safer environment for tye present and future generations that is devoid of carbon monoxide.

Speaking against the theme ‘Embrace Mobility With the Youth: The Future is Now’, Osun Assembly Speaker said with the foundation for establishment of mega cities being laid by Governor Ademola Adeleke, partnering with CIG Motors will go along way to help in reduction of carbon emissions and its attendant effect on the destruction of ozone layer.

Hon. Egbedun told the panelists which had the global hip hop musician, David Adeleke, business mogul, Chief Obi Cubana, Lagos State Government representative and the chairman of CIG Motors, Chief Dianna Chen that “in Osun State, there are several urban and rural areas where the administration of Senator Ademola Adeleke is planning to clean up the environment for environmental protection”.
Hon. Egbedun added that “our agenda is to have at least four mega cities before the end of our first tenure and e-mobility will be one of the ideas to drive our agenda”.

Speaking on the environmental perspective, the speaker said e-mobility has come to stay as most countries of the world are fast embracing electric cars and Nigeria cannot afford to lag behind.

“In countries like Dubai, it’s very rare to see cars that are not electric”. He assured CIG Motors that the opportunities it has is that it’s brand ambassador, “David Adeleke popularly known as Davido is our son, our pride in Osun. Partnering with Davido is a safe investment that is dear to our State”.
The speaker opined that the Governor will key into the development saying that he is optimistic that Osun State will have a lot of environmental friendly cars that run on electricity and fossil fuel very soon.

Speaking shortly before signing the partnership agreement with CIG Motors as their Brand Ambassador, Davido assured the company that Nigerians especially the youths will embrace e-mobility because of the various opportunities it presents like park assist feature which is embedded in GAC Motors.
Davido said ” just like the Speaker said, in Osun now, there are are comprehensive plans that are being meticulously implemented to create mega cities by the administration of my uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke, in about 3 years now, we will have several electric cars in the State.”

In Osun State now, “Our Governor just started construction of phenomenal roads that will not just guarantee free flow of traffic but also guarantee safety of lives and property. Very soon, we’ll be able to have electric cars in Osun. There’s a 4 x 4 that is not electric and other smaller cars that are either electric or non electric”.

He assured the Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke who was accompanied by the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, Deputy Speaker, Hon. Yode Oyewusi, lawmaker representing Ifedayo local government, Hon. Kasope Abolarin and the Spokesperson to the Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed that CIG Motors s ready to supply cars to Osun State Government.

He said the brand will apart from supplying cars will also provide training to drivers who intend to get electric cars and the company will work out convenient payment plans. “That’s going to revolutionise transportation in Osun State apart from job creation advantage that the partnership will bring to the State” Davido explained.

Other speakers at the event including Commissioner for transportation, Mr. Olúwaṣeun Osiyemi, Chief Obi Cubana and chairman of CIG Motors, Chief Dianna Chen all agreed that it’s high time Nigeria drift towards e-mobility.
