Omokri Stirs Reactions, Compares Labour Party’s Edo Votes To JAMB Results
Political commentator and former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, took a jibe at the Labour Party following the outcome of the Edo State election.
Labour Party’s governorship candidate, Olumide Akpata scored a paltry 22,000 votes in the election.
In a tweet posted on his social media account, Omokri humorously compared the party’s total vote count to a Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) result.
“I saw something online yesterday, and it looked like a JAMB score. And I said to myself that JAMB released results four months ago in May. Why am I seeing a JAMB result on September 22nd?” Omokri tweeted, before noting that someone pointed out the figure was actually the Labour Party’s total votes during the #EdoDecides24 election.
The remark sparked reactions from his followers, with some sharing the joke while others defended the party’s electoral performance.
The Labour Party, which gained significant momentum in the 2023 general elections, has faced challenges in maintaining its electoral strength, as demonstrated in Edo State’s recent polls.
Omokri, known for his sharp political commentary, has consistently critiqued the Labour Party and its leadership, often using satire to emphasise his points.
His latest comment continues a pattern of engaging his audience with pointed political humor.
As the election results from Edo State continue to be discussed, Omokri’s tweet adds to the ongoing debate over the current state of the Labour Party’s influence in Nigerian politics.
