Fani Kayode Mourns As Aide Dies In A Hotel, Demands Full Probe

A prominent Nigerian politician and former minister of Aviation, Fani Kayode has expressed grief over the sudden death of his Special Assistant, Mark Ndifreke.

Taking to his verified x handle to mourn his tragic demise, Fani-Kayode expressed deep sadness and detailed the circumstances surrounding Mark’s unexpected death.

Mark, 52, was a devoted Catholic and a member of the Catholic Church of Assumption, Asokoro, Abuja.

On Sunday, October 13, 2024, he left his home at 5:40 a.m. to attend morning Mass before proceeding to the Mildy Lodge and Apartments in Garki, Abuja.

According to police reports, Mark checked into the hotel, where he spent some time with an unidentified individual.

Unfortunately, during his stay, he allegedly slumped and died in the presence of this individual.

Following the incident, Mark was rushed to the Asokoro District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

His body has since been transferred to the hospital morgue for further examination.

Also, the individual who was with Mark at the time of his death has been taken into police custody, and a full criminal investigation is underway.

Kayode revealed further that, an autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

In his post, Kayode disclosed that the hotel receptionist has also been detained for questioning.

Additionally, both the manager and owner of the hotel have been invited by the police for further inquiries.

To aid the investigation, police sealed the entire hotel for two days.

Similarly, the room in which Mark stayed remains sealed as investigations continue.

However, Mark’s wife, Barrister Patience Ndifreke-Mark, and his uncle, Clement Mathias have been briefed on the incident.

Kayode expressed his commitment to ensuring justice peradventure of any foul play.

He also reassured the family of his unwavering support during this difficult time.

In his tribute, Kayode described Mark as more than just an assistant.

He referred to him as more of a son and acknowledged the deep personal loss he felt.

“We shared many dreams and aspirations and fought many battles together shoulder to shoulder,” Kayode wrote.

“Now he has gone, it has left much pain, but I give thanks to God for his life and for the 52 years that he spent on earth.”

“He was a kind, reliable, and compassionate soul who brought joy to many and who was incapable of hurting a fly.

I will never forget him, and though he has passed, he lives on in our hearts,” Kayode added.

Kayode expressed appreciation to those who have come to offer their condolences and support.

He expressed confidence in the ability of the Police to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure justice is served.
