PDP Supporters Protest In Nasarawa Over S’Court’s Verdict
Some aggrieved party loyalists have staged a protest in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, following the Supreme Court’s judgment affirming the election of Governor Abdullahi Sule of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
The Lafia-Jos Road has been completely blocked as the supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) burn tires in front of the state secretariat of the party, thus barricading the road.
It was gathered that the protest has forced motorists to use alternative routes within Lafia, the state capital.
There is a security presence restoring calm and ensuring no escalation.
Meanwhile, shops and business centres including schools within the Lafia metropolis have abruptly closed.
Recall that the Supreme Court, had earlier today (Friday), affirmed the Court of Appeal judgement that voided the nullification of the election of Governor Sule.
The apex court, in a unanimous decision by a five-member panel, upheld the declaration of Sule of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as winner of the governorship election that was held in the state on March 18, 2023.
