Lagos Police Investigates Sudden Death Of Man At Local Beer Parlour
In a sombre turn of events, the Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the unexpected demise of an unidentified man at a beer parlour in Lagos.
The incident, which left patrons and the establishment’s owner in shock, occurred when the man visited the parlour to watch television.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer for the Command, relayed the details to journalists on Sunday.
According to Hundeyin, the proprietor of the establishment, who chose to remain anonymous, alerted the Elere Police Division of the tragic event on Wednesday, around 7:00 p.m.
The deceased, a man believed to be in his 50s, had entered the beer parlour situated along the bustling Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway at approximately 6:15 p.m. He settled in to join other patrons in watching television, a routine evening pastime.
As the evening progressed, the man was noticed to be asleep in his chair. Concerned individuals attempted to rouse him, only to find that he had passed away. The police were promptly notified, and detectives arrived at the scene to find the man’s body still seated, showing no signs of violence.
The body has since been transferred to the Mainland General Hospital Mortuary in Yaba for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Meanwhile, police efforts to identify the man and locate his next of kin are underway.
The Lagos State Police Command extends its condolences to the community and urges anyone with information to come forward as they continue to investigate this unfortunate occurrence.
