Osun NIPR Lauds Adeleke Over Creation Of LG Information Department
The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Osun State Chapter, has commended the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, the Rt. Honourable Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Honourable Adewale Olumide Egbedun, and all the stakeholders for successfully passing and enacting a bill for the creation of the Department of Information within the Local Government Service of the State.
In a statement released by the Chairman of the State Chapter of NIPR, Mr. Ademola Adesoji, on Wednesday, July 17th, 2024, expressed the Institute’s commendation and happiness.
“The establishment of this department represents a significant advancement in our state’s information management,” the statement read. “On behalf of the Executive and members of Osun NIPR, I congratulate the Governor, the Rt.Honourable Speaker, and all the involved stakeholders for their visions and commitments to excel in this regard. This initiative aligns perfectly with our mandate as the professional body responsible for the information management and public relations.”
The NIPR Osun State Chapter assured the government and the stakeholders of its commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism in managing government information and image. The statement emphasized the dedication of its members to maintaining transparency, accountability and excellence in all communications businesses.
Furthermore, Adesoji urged the government to ensure that the new Department of Information is managed exclusively by professional public relations practitioners who are members of the NIPR. This, he argued, will ensure the department is being led by individual(s) with the vigour, requisite expertise, training, and commitment to attain ethical standards and thereby guaranteeing effective and efficient information management in the service as a whole
The NIPR Osun State Chapter also expressed its readiness to support and collaborate with the Osun State Government in making this department a model of excellence in public information management.
