Akinrun Stool: Gboleru Ruling House Agrees On Candidate

-Hails Adeleke’s Swift intervention

-Awaits Govt Letter To Present Candidate

-Vows To Withdraw Litigation At Appeal Court

Members of the Gboleru ruling house, Ikirun, in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State have commended governor Ademola Adeleke for allowing the law to take its course in the selection process of the new Akinrun of Ikirunland.

Speaking at a meeting held at the head of the ruling house’s residence in Ikirun, Princes and Princess of Gboleru Ruling House said it was worthy of note that the governor declined every forces brought to bear in trying to allow illegality to stand over the Akinrun kingship matter.

They posited that “the intervention of Governor Adeleke immediately he was sworn into office with his executive order rescued the family from being cheated by the Oba Ara Ruling House”.

It would be recalled that Prince Yinusa Akadiri of Oba Ara Ruling House was appointed by the immediate past governor, Gboyega Oyetola as Akirun following the demise of late Akinrun Oba Abdulrauf Olawale Adedeji on Wednesday, February 3, 2022.

However, Oba Yunusa was asked to step aside by Governor Adeleke’s executive order, citing lack of due process by the past administration.

Mogaji of the Gboleru Ruling House, Alimi Abefe who frowned at the prolonged period of time in which the stool of Akinrun remains empty, blamed the situation on the roles being played by those he described as non actors who dabbled into the affair of selecting the new monarch for the town.

According to Abefe, there has been an existing procedure in selecting Akirun agreed upon by princes of Ikirun from the three ruling houses namely ; Adedeji, Gboleru and Oba Ara.

“Oba Ara Ruling House has produced eleven kings, Adedeji produced two and our own house is about to produce the third king” he said .

Speaking on why the procedure failed to work after Oba Abdul-Rauf Olayiwola Adedeji II, joined his ancestors four years ago, Abefe said people from Oba Ara Ruling House are the causes.

According to Abefe “The procedure has been in existence even before the creation of Osun State.”

He , however, appealed to Osun government to take the right step that would lead to the selection process of a new Akinrun, assuring that there won’t be any crisis in the ancient town.

Echoing a similar views, the head of family (Baale Ile) of Gboleru Ruling House, Da’ud Kolawole, explained that contrary to reports of disunity among his family members, they are all relating with each other without any crack, saying they were all working to achieve a sole goal of presenting next Akirun.

Kolawole further said , they have all resolved to present Prince Tajudeen Adesegun Gboleru as their candidate for the Akirun stool anytime the government writes them to submit the name of the candidate.

He also expressed profound gratitude to the Governor by ensuring that those who he said thought can use their influence to manipulate the process without recourse to the established gazette of the Ikirun chieftaincy law failed in their bid to successfully perpetrate the illegality.

Another member of Gboleru Ruling House, Prince Ibrahim Oyewale called on the government to write them in presenting their own candidate as next Akirun.

Prince Oyewale stressed that they will only withdraw their case in the Appeal court with the only condition of the state government writing them to present their candidate for Akirun stool.

According to Prince Oyewale, “After the White Paper report we expect the government to write the bureau in the house to present our own candidate, if there is a letter to that effect we are ready to withdraw that case.

“We want the government to write us so that we will be confident that the thing has been shifted back to our house.”

“Gboleru Ruling House has no problem, anybody selected among us, we will all support him” he said
