Reps Honour Late Owa Aromolaran
-As Omirin Eulogizes late Monarch
The House of Representatives on Thursday rose for a minute in honour of the late Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesa land, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran.
The minute of silence was in response to the motion brought by Hon. Olusanya Omirin, the member representing Ijesa South Federal Constituency, the seat of the late influential monarch.
During his motion, Omirin paid tribute to the late Oba Aromolaran, eulogising his 42-year glorious reign, which brought unprecedented growth to Ijesa land and its people.
Omirin, who expressed delight, seeing lawmakers reminiscing about their encounters with Oba Aromolaran’s books.
The lawmakers in their various submissions eloquently spoke about Oba Aromolaran’s influence in the field of economics and how his books were helpful to them.
The Speaker, Dr. Tajudeen Abass graciously granted Omirin’s appeal for a minute of silence in honour of the late king, and the House unanimously agreed to the prayer.
It will be recalled that the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, had earlier sent a letter of condolence to the family of the late monarch.
Reacting to the motion and responses from lawmakers, the sponsor of the motion, Hon. Omirin, was full of thanks to the speaker and his colleagues for the honor done to the late Oba Aromolaran. “I am delighted that my colleagues celebrated Baba Owa in an unprecedented manner,” Omirin said. “Indeed, I am a proud Ijesa man. Baba remains great even in death.”
