Oyo Loses APC Reps Member, 'Jagaban'

-Makinde Mourns, Orders Flags Flown At Half Mast

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state has lost a member of the House of Representatives for the Ibadan North Federal constituency, Hon. Musiliu Akinrremi (a.k.a. Jagaban).

He was aged 51 years.

According to a family member, Abiodun Abideen Akinremi (Big Daddy), the second term lawmaker died early Wednesday morning after a brief illness. His body was being expected to be flown to Ibadan for burial.

In a release by the Oyo State government, Governor Seyi Makinde, has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden passing of Hon. Akinremi. He described the demise as a shocking and great loss to the state, while directing that flags be flown at half mast in honour of the lawmaker.

In the same vein, Hon. Dhikrullahi Olajide (Odidiomo), a fellow federal lawmaker, representing Ibadan South West/North West constituency, praised Jagaban as a dedicated and hardworking colleague who made significant contributions to the country’s development. “His passing is a significant loss to the National Assembly and the people of Oyo State”, he said.

APC stalwarts, including Se.Teslim Folarin, colleagues, and dignitaries in the state have also expressed their condolences over the loss of Jagaban, who they said “will be deeply missed”.

Meanwhile, New Telegraph gathered that the leadership of the House of Representatives were in advanced talk with the office of Chief of Naval Staff to convey the remains of Akinremi to Ibadan for burial. One of the members from Oyo state, who has military background, has been detailed to handle the process.
